Dude. I know this is an OLD article. But I'm sitting here listening to trancey loungey jazzy stuff and reading blog archives. This was pretty thought-provoking. I mean... really... what do we do with this stuff we offer when the answer isn't obvious?

Herbs, like you said, sure, we burn 'em. Then that's that. Gemstones can be offered and then kept somewhere safe or carried on your person if you feel it has talismanic value I guess. But what about stuff that doesn't evaporate or break down easily? Hm.

I am a SLIder. and I don't believe in aliens or psychics or any of that crap; all I know is that I am so glad I can buy compact fluorescents because I usually make light bulbs go out instantly.

I also gave up on wearing watches less than ten years ago because within months, I would kill their batteries.

I have not really understood the streetlight thing; I've always just thought it was the way the lights were made. I didn't know some people made them go out. So I really can't offer any proof there.

The main thing is, I kill watches and lights.

I do tend to disagree on the meanings of the pentacle.

If you look at most people that use the single point down, they are using a more humanist based magick, where as those using the single point up tend to call upon the divine.

If you take the meaning of that single point (Chi/energy) and it very likely represents where the power of that energy comes from.

Pagans == Power of the divine
Satanists (etc) == Power of the Self

Next time you use magick that called upon you inner energies, try flipping your star. You may notice a huge difference in the effectiveness of the ritual.

This is an excellent point! Wicca revivalists like Scott Cunningham waste a great deal of inkspace trying to divorce modern witches from the stigma of Satanism...when in fact, well-documented (though spectacularized) medieval Dark rites did exist which were directed against the Church and often secretly carried out at night by priests and parishioners. These are distinct from nature paganism, although the "evil" of the participants is a judgment imposed by the Church being so attacked.
The distinction is in the orientation of the pentacle...demonic magic points two cones upward, like horns, while the pagan pentacle sports a single horn.

What rot you speak. Yes the pastor says it works, but because Satan makes it do so. Demon worship and evil may be your stock in trade, poor you.
