House For Sale!

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Several years ago my Mother bought a house for 13,000, well, OK, it’s not a house, it’s a trailer, but it’s in a nice community that keeps out the normal trailer riffraff. A few weeks ago she put a for-sale sign in the window and has been looking into options of how to advertise that it’s on the market without needing to pay some Realtor, or pay the fees to put it in the Home-Buyers Guide. She was not looking all that hard as Norm plans on staying up in Michigan till at least October when he retires, but she thought it’s best to plan ahead. Sunday was her Birthday so her and Norm headed out to celebrate by spending the weekend up at my Grandmothers and then Monday and Tuesday at a Casino.

When they got back there were two messages on the machine with people inquiring about buying her house. One a small family I believe, and the other an older woman looking for something smaller then her house but bigger then an apartment. Both parties sounded very interested in the house, and now both have appointments with my Mother to come and look at it this upcoming weekend. If all goes well, my mother might actually sell the home by next month.

The current price on the house is 22,000 (9,000 more then they originally paid) and it’s by far one of the cheapest trailers for sale in the park, and likely the largest and one with the most options. They are making a steal in the real estate market by buying low and selling high, but are getting hosed in the actual going price. Regardless thought they are coming out ahead of the game. I told her to stand firm on the price because of the comparisons of near-by homes but if she wanted to come down to only drop to maybe 21,000 as any thing less and the folks could buy the trailer down the road.

Regardless though, they will certainly get enough money to pay the local moose lodge enough to have them packed up & shipped down here to Tennessee by the holidays. My Mother will likely show up sooner.

Occult Corpus and Change

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

There are two points of reconstruction that have taken place on Occult Corpus recently and one of them is rather hard to miss. The other, while more subtle, is liking even bigger.

I have eliminated the Occult Aspect forum and have moved its contents under Magickal Persuasions. Originally I wanted to place Occult News, and Article Arcana under this header, but as it turns out I found a better place for the articles section (by itself). Regardless though, from the start of Occult Aspect I always had a tugging feeling that it detracted from Magickal Persuasions and was, for the better part, the same thing.

If you were gone from the site for the last three or so months and are just now returning, I guess the only ‘change’ you’d notice would be that Cryptozoology and Paranormal are both under Persuasions rather then Social Aspects, as I find them more suited as magickal accessories then a social phenomenon.

In my opinion, switching back to this format cleans up the board rather nicely and the reorganization I think may help the flow of conversation.

The second change (which by the way is only the first phase) was to promote two members to Super Moderator and then place them over a section of the board.

I promoted Forest Breath to supervise the Social Aspects board. She has shown a great interest in the site and has preformed her duties as a moderator with loyalty and respect. While she is as good as my Wife, my relationship with her was not a real factor in this promotion…and I am hoping that others can see her as the wonderful moderator that she is.

Cypher Grey was also promoted. For those that do not recognize the name, he was Chalis. He has also shown that he is responsible enough to hand a few more duties as a moderator. I pushed for his modship over at OF, and was adamant that he be a Mod here on the OC. I trust and respect him as a member, mod, and as a human. His main duties will be to cover Magickal Persuasions.

Mmothra was not demoted by any means ;) however, his duties and responsibilities has lessened. He is now in charge of Magickal paths rather then the entire site.

With these two changes, and a few more changes to come, I hope to see Occult Corpus grow into one of the largest Magick, Pagan, and occult communities on the internet.

Happy Birthday Mom

Monday, April 9th, 2007

My mothers birthday was yesterday and we tried calling her several times starting around noon and then giving up sometime around 7:30. In all we left 9 messages and most of them singing strange renditions of the b-day classics.

Happy birthday to you
Your old and grey too
They could turn you into glue-oo
So I’m glad I’m not you.

and another

Happy birthday to you
I farted just for you
It smells like green poo-oo
Happy birthday to you

We actually sang others, some I can’t recall, others not fit for posting (Sticky rhymes with Vickey) ;)

You see it was important that we reach her because she gets all upset when no one bothers to call on such a day. Last year she didn’t get any cards on time & not all of her kids remembered to call’so I wanted to make sure that we remembered her (and because it was Easter). She didn’t answer & didn’t answer, at one point Cyndi & I got a kick out of a conversation which revolved around my mom crumpled over in tears because no one bothered to call her, HAHA, well, ok, it,s not funny, well, not till she realized her phone was off.

That conversation was actually not far off. She was at a hotel/casino and she was not getting reception. She WAS wondering why her kids were not calling her but was determined to have a good time. Around 9 she wandered into the lobby where her phone went ballistic with missed call *beeps* and random *blips* signifying several voice mails. Not to mention random tones to announce all the missed text messages.

She took the time to call us (and everyone else) and was thrilled that we all remembered her. We had a chuckle about “no one calling. Good times, good times.

Boys, girls, chickens

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

I’ve been a bit lax on getting video updates here, but I had some spare time this morning. The two of Lakota are from when she stayed and helped me watch Perrin a few weeks ago. The one of Perrin is, I believe, his first time in a chicken coop.

 I love you, Unci

Eye rolling Lakota

Perrin playing with chickens

Watch how Perrin first checks out the construction of the coop before investigating the clucking monstrosities…
